Art for Months Series
Twelve illustrations with writing on the following subjects: WIRED: Telephone poles are like people--wired differently, yet connected. ADHD CHALLENGES: The letters of the month's name illustrate aspects of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). CHAIRS: Chairs reflect "choices." We can choose where, when, and with whom we sit. STEPS: This theme considers the steps we take in life. The Twelve Steps of recovery helped inspire these illustrations and words. LAUNDRY: There are many insights in the common chore of laundry. TRASH: Getting rid of stuff--deserves respect. It has much to teach us. BOUNDARIES: Personal boundaries are reflected in physical boundaries. SIDEWALKS: Sidewalk construction shows the value of a process including cooperation and inconveniences. THE KITCHEN SINK: The kitchen sink can be a challenge, but it has life lessons. ADHD CHALLENGES, TOO: I found more aspects of ADHD to illustrate. REGARDING FIRE
Painting multiple pictures regarding fire, I found a powerful metaphor reflecting life, safety, damage, and recovery. My fire paintings show enjoyable fire and toy fire trucks; fire safety equipment; several houses damaged by fire, and two houses in stages of repair. I saw hope out of despair as the houses were reconstructed. I hope this work would help trauma survivors. I believe it would help people talk about traumas. |
